Corporate Social Responsibility Managers
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become an intrinsic part of a company's strategy. The Planet, People, Profit principle has been generally accepted as an essential basis for defining and implementing corporate objectives. At several levels within companies standards have been introduced contained in codes of ethics, codes of conduct or similar. Various national and international platforms play an active role in further developing this principle. In 2011 the UN Secretary General's Special Representative for Business and Human Rights, Prof. John Ruggie, presented his Guiding Principles for Corporate Social Responsibility and Human Rights.
As a partner in the World Legal Forum Buren van Velzen Guelen is involved in the forum's initiative to operationalise the Remedy pillar of those Guiding Principles.
In practice this means that Buren van Velzen Guelen advises companies on the wording and implementation of standards and codes of conduct, the integration of those principles in terms of employment and contractual relationships and the possibilities of making an active contribution to (international) compliance with these generally accepted standards through due diligence and reporting. Early identification of risks may help prevent potential problems and disputes with local communities. With our specific knowhow and experience we will be happy to answer your questions and help you define a policy in this area.
